Letni kino – open-air venue at Škale lake is a 1000m2 event space surrounded by woods on the edge of the town. It has two 100m2 multi-purpose tents and a small service shed. It is fenced, with electricity, water and chemical toilets.
Letni kino was built by the Velenje shock workers (udarniki) during the Brotherhood and Unity period. Then it was overgrown by the forest. When Velenje celebrated its 50th anniversary, the young people went all-in and dug it up. They created a unique outdoor concert, festival, social and sports venue.
At Letni kino – open-air venue we have been organising experiences for locals and visitors of all generations with young individuals and various cultural and sports associations since 2009. Among the loyal organisers of the awesome experiences are Youth centre Velenje, Šalek student club, eMCe plac, Železni aktivizem, Društvo nasedlega kita, Festival Velenje and various sports associations. The Kunigunda Festival of Youth Culture, Vratolom, Festival nasedlega kita, Lake Fest, Somethin of Summer, Dan naše in vaše mladosti, Indicamp, stand-up evenings, theatre performances and various other performances, round tables, cultural-artistic and sports workshops, classrooms in nature, the eMCe plac club's summer pop-up café and various other activities and events have all found a place under the treetops.
Come and see, it's really crazy!
