What do you do?
I am a mentor to children and adolescents at the Afternoon centre for Children and Youth and the coordinator of the organization and implementation of the program for community service. I also help with cleaning at the Youth Hotel.
Youth is beautiful, especially when spiced with a bit of mischief like it should be.
The time I spent my youth in was a time when I embarked on a boat and with the gentle rippling of the water's surface, led it in search of the islands of my life.
The time young people live in today is a time when you race on a fast jet ski across the rough sea looking for land. I could say that time has somehow "sped up." Whatever the "speed" of the time we live in, I've learned that both positive and negative actions in life teach you how to overcome different obstacles. Now I know that as you grow up, everything that seemed difficult before becomes easier.
From that time, I miss... Of course, it's great when you're young and carefree. All my friends from the street and our basketball afternoons on the court behind the block, and the summers when we roamed the Šalek Valley, all the way to Savinja and Koroška. We did ... all that we should and shouldn't have. But we rode it out. Today, my two boys are experiencing that ride. I learn about today’s youth with my family.
In working with young people, we navigate the path of life together. I admire your youthful boldness. I hope you combine it with courage, heartiness, determination, selflessness, and above all, honesty. You are guaranteed to shine in our community – in Youth Centre Velenje.
